Month of Hell

It's taken a month to complete, but finally I have finished building call centre number 2 for my erstwhile employer. 36 new PC's, phones and desks, rebuilding a further 56 old PC's to work with a new database that took 40 hours to build alone. 92 PC's purring away nicely thanks to working till 2am every night and a lot of sweat. Now I can start my new job in earnest and I can start using my brain again...

Passed. Driving. Test!

It's official. I'm an adult. I passed my driving test - first time an' all!

4 Minor faults! I can't believe it.

...and I've got a new job! Woo-hoo!

Flatline's last and an awesome Olsen

Not only did I witness the last performance by Flatline (though they're only changing their name and doing away with the older songs), but Sean from Ill System played a solo acoustic track. All this on the day that Ill System's drummer left for South Africa, never to return.

I expected Flatline to be unpractised and all over the place as they hadn't performed together for months. The were amazingly tight and performed a magnificent set, despite the usual instrument issues which always seem to plague the band. Craig Hodges, on bass, fills the gaps beautifully with some improvisations of Chemical Brothers and Moloko basslines.

I can honestly say that singer, Jamie Todd, gave the best peformance I've ever heard from him. He even had to take some time out after one song as he put a bit too much effort in.

Sean's song had most Ill System followers feeling homesick and tearful as he sang of his friend flying back home. Sean really has an immense stage presence, despite is lack of physical stature.

I hope to see these people that I have come to refer to as my friends perform again soon.

Ill System

Sian and I caught Ill System at their last gig, in Cardiff at least, as Ramone is being forced to go back to South Africa by the f**king government.

They were awesome, as ever and Sian and I got to meet Sean's other half - Tamsin- at the after show party.

Got drunk.

Bin' given an nice looking computer

IT are chucking away loads of kit again - so I bagged this Pentium 4 system. Looks good and will be an ideal quiet PC next to our TV. It's barely audible when it's on. However, I could just sell the bugger.

Given an old laptop

I was given an old laptop by Group IT. It's nothing much, but it's my first laptop and now that it's wifi'd up it'll play DVD's on the move...

Just the facts Maam.

After just over a month with my new assistant Sean (Lead Singer in Ill System), I've lost him to Group IT. Hopefully, this is a temporary situation as Sean was as good at IT as he is frontman in a band.

It's me birthday on Saturday and I can't wait (mid-life crisis anyone?).

Torchwood got off to an auspicious start on Sunday, and thank fuck it was good.

OK, so Jack's as cheesy as ever and Cardiff looked suspiciously like the version of London we see in Doctor Who, but it's got my vote. It's an eclectic mix of sexy sci-fi, Avengers-type 'above the law' weirdness and cheesy 'british' humour all grounded by the freckly Eve Myles.

From the first moment in the first scene when one of the regular police grunts, "It's a fucking disgrace", you are forced to come to terms with the fact that this is the first spinoff set in a Whoniverse where everyone actually speaks like 'us'.

Anyway, it's got a pterodactyl in it.

More please.
